About us
Valerie & Cristian, are the proud owners of Raices Argentinas, an Argentinian steakhouse located in vibrant Park Slope; the neighborhood where Valerie spent her childhood. Raices Argentinas means “Argentine Roots” and holds great significance to the owners and staff. Valerie’s mother is originally from Rosario in Argentina and her father is from Peru. They moved to Brooklyn in the 1970s, living in South Slope for the first 5 years of Valerie’s life and then settled in Sunset Park; and they still reside there to this day. Cristian was born and raised in Buenos Aires and has been living in New York for over 25 years. Cristian has always worked in the restaurant industry, and dedicated his life to ensuring that the essence of Argentina stays alive through the foods, drinks, desserts and authentic decor that Raices Argentina offers.
Raices Argentinas was inspired by Valerie & Cristian's previous restaurant, Cafe Argentino, that they purchased in 2015 but had to unfortunately close due to a fire in 2022. It was a well-known establishment in the heart of Williamsburg; remembered as a gathering place for friends and family. The outpouring of support and overwhelming requests to reopen, compelled Valerie & Cristian to re-create this experience in a new neighborhood that had welcomed Valerie's family many years ago with open arms. Returning to their roots, connecting with their culture and creating an authentic Argentinian experience for all guests in the Slope area of Brooklyn, is what is most important to Valerie & Cristian.
